8 Ways to Manage Your Time More Effectively

Have you ever tried assessing yourself whether you’re punctual or late? Do you start and finish your tasks within the given time? Do you submit your reports on time? As we all know, time management is important especially when you are working in a competitive and demanding job such as the digital marketing agency. For marketers or entrepreneurs, time is everything. That means, being lax is definitely a no-no.

Admittedly, we all wish to have more time in a day to accomplish all the things that needs to be done within the day. Sometimes, we feel that we are too busy to accumulate all the given tasks. But was there a time when you feel like you’re too busy yet there’s still a lot of pending tasks? Perhaps, you’re managing your time in a wrong way. To prevent this scenario from happening again, below are some tips you need know to manage your time more effectively.

1. Set clear goals

First things first, set a clear goal for that particular day. Without having a clear goal in mind, you will tend to do a lot of things randomly. And later will you know that you forget to do the task that needs to submit ASAP. Allowing this to happen could be the end of your career. When you engage in a demanding job, you are expected to accomplish your tasks efficiently and successfully.

Setting a clear goal should not be that difficult for you to do especially when you are a marketer – it is a must! You can set your goals determining which tasks you need to prioritize and which that can wait. Moreover, you should also be precise about your tasks for you to understand what it is all about. With that point, it will be much easier and faster for you to make things done.

2. Get organized

After setting your goals for the day, you then have to organize it. It is not enough just knowing what you needs to do for today, you need to determine which tasks comes first and which comes next. With this, you will be guided on the things you’re supposed to do at the moment. Organizing your tasks will prevent you from any confusion on what you should do next. Generally, being organized is not just on how you prioritize your tasks, it is also about how organized are you in your working space.

Yes, being organize on your desk gives a big impact on your working routine. Of course, you do not need to spend some time looking on your pen hidden under a pile of papers. Organizing your tasks will help to ensure that you are doing a little bit each day towards your goals.  Moreover, this will also keep your mind at ease since you are less likely to skip procrastination.

3. Prioritizing time

Sometimes, lack of time is one reason why we cannot finish our tasks on time. If we could just slow down the time, it would be better to accomplish all the things needed for that day – but that would be impossible. As we all know, time is golden especially when we have deadlines to meet. However, you can achieve a desirable outcome when you just know how to manage your time. Consider a time limit to each task. You need to be clear on what you need to finish within 10am, another task by 3pm, and by 5:30pm. With this, it will prevent your work from dragging on and eating into time reserved for other activities.

To accomplish such, you need to set the time reasonably to make it attainable. You can apply this strategy: Manage the short-term crises and problems, Focus on the long-term strategic goals, avoid distractions and interruptions, and limit time-wasting activities. With this, you will be able to manage your time efficiently.

4. Destroy procrastination

One of the most difficult parts when it comes to time management is the dreaded procrastination. Admittedly, procrastinating at work can be tempting. We tend to open our Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, and other social media platforms. Unless you are social media specialist, opening of these social accounts will only slow down your pace at work.  Stop the urge to check them so often. Removing them from your browser quick links/bookmarks is one thing you can do to stop procrastinating.

Aside from checking your social media accounts, gossiping with your co-workers is one of the many reasons why you procrastinate. You tend to be curious and interest with the issue forgetting that you have deadlines to meet. While it is true that talking with your co-workers may have some advantages with it, but gossiping is not a productive way to incorporate at work.

5. Cut off when you need to

No matter how important the task is, do not be afraid to cut it off when you need to. If you think that there is no way you can finish that particular task on time, assign that task to the person who can finish it right away. Accepting tasks without thinking if you can accomplish such task, then this might cause some problems later on. Know to delegate tasks. In this way, you can take a load off and you can focus on the most important task you have.

6. Have a clock visibly placed before you

When we have so many things in mind, we tend to be engrossed in our work that we lose track of the time. However, having a huge clock in front of you will help you keep track on the time. The clock will also tell and remind you that it is time to do the next task.

7. Learn to say NO

Whether you realize it or not, saying no is also beneficial to us. Taking more than what you can handle can be a distraction from the things you are supposed to do. If you think that there are things that are better done by others, again, delegate it. Learn to give them a firm no.

8. Focus

If you think that multi-tasking is the best way to accomplish your tasks, then you better think again. Focusing on one task at a time will help you do it properly and efficiently. You do not have to think of anything but on how you can make your work better for you clients to appreciate it. Of course, you will definitely a get a desirable result than having it multi-tasked.

For entrepreneurs, working in a demanding job is not as easy as you think it is. You have to learn how the industry works for you to achieve a desirable output on your tasks. Moreover, having an impressive output is one way to impress your clients and your potential target audience.
